This is going back a bit but just found this video on the web showing the completed hull and a photo on my phone showing what the Normandie would look like

Progress On the UCC boat

Tuesday, February 10th, 2015

The odd bow plate on this boat was originally design to be a loading ramp like on a landing craft, however it is just going to be a fixed plate now. See Munson Aluminum Boats on the web for an idea of what the boat will look like when completed.

Still lots of ice on the lake!

Monday, April 14th, 2014

If you are thinking of booking a cruise soon, just beware that there’s still ice on Lake Michigan! This was at South Haven. 166_0597 166_0584 (1024x768) 166_0592 (1024x768) 166_0593 (1024x768) 166_0600

New Boat: 52′ Retriever

Wednesday, April 9th, 2014

166_0759166_0757166_0752166_0751166_0750Started work on the interior of the Alden ketch “Retriever” (Ebb Tide) to  convert it to a Sea Scouts vessel. Its a 1980 aluminum sailboat, beautiful teak interior that is being set up with lots of pipe berths for sea scouts. Kind of a shame to do this to a really nice cruiser, but that’s what they want. I’m trimming out compartments as other work is completed. Wish I could have this boat to sail anywhere on Earth. Work is being done at Anderson Boat Works in Saugatuck, really the the best place to work.

Progress on Sailing Canoe

Saturday, March 8th, 2014

So, the decking and inner wales are removed and most of the interior paint is stripped. I still need to sand about 2/3 of the interior and strip the bottom.  I think I’ll finish the interior sides with oil, paint the bottom, and install new cedar floor boards.  Hopefully I can get the sanding done today. The straps are to hold the shape of the boat. I still don’t know what I’m going to do with the centerboard trunk.

Finished working on the “Normandie”, need a new project.

Saturday, October 19th, 2013

Work is wrapped up on the replacement hull for the “Normandie”, a 62′  100 year old Lake Geneva boat. This is the first aluminum boat I’ve worked on and it was very interesting, lots to learn. But I still prefer building in wood. So I’m looking for a new project to build: kayak, sailboat, houseboat, standup paddle board? The work was done at Anderson Boat Works in Douglas, Mi. Lots of fun at the Cove Party Labor Day 2013

Saturday, October 19th, 2013

Had a great time at the annual Labor Day Cove Party. The band played three sets from the deck of “Darwin” with a crowd of hundreds in the water, on the beach, and on their boats.
